PAMET began in 1990 to address the shortage of paper and teaching and learning aids in Malawian schools. Since 1990, PAMET has trained over 300 schools in fourteen districts of Malawi to make recycled paper. In the training workshops, teachers learn how to make paper, globes, counters, chart paper and notebooks. Most schools receive only a small number of notebooks and very few or no visual teaching aids. The training in paper recycling enables schools to become more self sufficient and creative with the limited resources they have. PAMET works with district level Ministry of Education staff.
